THE WORKING HYPOTHESIS

A hypothesis to investigate.
Not a doctrine to follow.

Modern Dharma is built around a simple possibility: recurring patterns in a life may contain useful evidence of svadharma.

At its simplest, Modern Dharma is an attempt to cultivate a better relationship with life. A life that can be seen more clearly, trusted more deeply, and participated in more honestly.

01 / CORE HYPOTHESIS

Life may leave
recurring evidence.

Human lives may contain recurring patterns of attention, vitality, capability, concern, responsibility, and contribution.

Modern Dharma treats these patterns as provisional evidence of svadharma: a characteristic way in which a life may seek expression.

The pattern is not assumed to be singular. It is not treated as destiny. It may be partly discovered, partly developed, and partly shaped through participation with circumstances.

Recognition is only the beginning. A recurring pattern becomes more credible when it is tested responsibly, remains open to contrary evidence, respects the equal legitimacy of other lives, and survives contact with reality.

The promise is not certainty or guaranteed success. It is a more honest participation in life.

02 / EVIDENCE STREAMS

What might
count as evidence?

No single moment proves a path. Stronger interpretations are supported by several forms of evidence appearing across time and context.

01

Vitality

Durable energy, absorption, or engagement, rather than a brief emotional high.

02

Integrity

A responsibility may be costly and still feel honestly yours to carry.

03

Capability

A useful capacity recurs across different roles, settings, or relationships.

04

Concern

A question, injustice, or human need repeatedly claims attention.

05

Contribution

Other people or systems repeatedly benefit from a characteristic form of participation.

06

Return

The pattern reappears after reward, status, praise, or one particular container disappears.

Important: repetition may also reflect conditioning, trauma, compulsion, social expectation, or necessity. Evidence must be interpreted, not merely collected.

03 / THE JOURNEY

Recognition is
not the end.

Evidence may become sufficient for an experiment long before it becomes sufficient for certainty.

The inquiry therefore moves through a living cycle rather than a fixed ladder.

01RecogniseWhat keeps showing up?
02InterpretWhat else could explain it?
03TrustHave I seen enough to test this?
04ExperimentWhat responsible step could reality answer?
05ReviseWhat does the outcome change?

04 / A GLIMPSE AHEAD

The evidence
can keep living.

Modern Dharma is slowly evolving toward a Living Evidence Network.

The idea is simple: observations become possible patterns; patterns invite responsible experiments; outcomes return new evidence.

The network is not designed to prove the hypothesis correct. It must be capable of strengthening, weakening, reframing, or abandoning an interpretation.

01ObservationSomething happened.
02PatternSomething may be recurring.
03ExperimentA responsible test is attempted.
04New EvidenceReality answers.

This network remains a prototype. The investigation is still learning how it should be built.

The purpose is not to defend the hypothesis.
The purpose is to keep investigating it.

New evidence may strengthen the hypothesis. New evidence may change it.
Both outcomes are acceptable.
